Homemade Hamburger

1 min read

Juicy, well-seasoned homemade beef patties layered with fresh vegetables and melted cheese — a classic burger you can make from scratch in minutes.

Prep: 20 minutes | Cook: 10 minutes | Serves: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 600 g ground beef (20% fat)

  • 1 onion, finely grated

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

  • 4 hamburger buns

  • 4 slices cheddar or kaşar cheese

  • 1 tomato, sliced

  • Lettuce leaves

  • Pickle slices

  • Ketchup and mayonnaise, for serving

Instructions

  1. Knead the ground beef with the grated onion, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal patties, pressing a slight dimple in the center of each (this keeps them from puffing up while cooking).

  3. Cook on a very hot pan or grill for 3-4 minutes per side, flipping to your preferred doneness.

  4. In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a cheese slice and let it melt.

  5. Lightly toast the hamburger buns.

  6. Layer the bottom bun with sauce, lettuce, patty, cheese, tomato, and pickles, then close with the top bun.

  7. Serve hot with a side of French fries.
